ENHANCING AIR-BARRIER PERFORMANCE
Tires
Inner-liners are an essential component of tubeless tires, and the demand for them continues to grow. Using halobutyl rubber in tire inner liners helps maintain air pressure effectively, providing lower air permeability and greater fuel efficiency compared to natural rubber-based inner liners. Additionally, halobutyl rubber enables the production of tires with lower inflation pressure while maintaining safety under extreme conditions. Because of its excellent air retention and gas barrier properties, halobutyl rubber is widely used as the preferred material for modern tubeless tire applications.
X_Butyl® polymers from ARLANXEO, both brominated and chlorinated, are ideal for manufacturing high-efficiency inner liners.
Although butyl rubbers from ARLANXEO are primarily used in the tire industry, their outstanding properties also make them suitable for various other technical applications such as medical closures, bladders, hoses, seals, and liners.
Medical stoppers and plungers
Bromobutyl and chlorobutyl rubbers under the X_Butyl® brand are widely used in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Their extremely low gas permeability, cleanliness, and excellent aging resistance make them ideal for pharmaceutical closures, storage, and handling applications.
Halobutyl rubber is particularly suitable for producing pharmaceutical stoppers and plungers due to its purity, elasticity, and smooth surface finish essential for pre-filled syringes and other high-performance medical devices.
Chewing gum
X_Butyl® RB 101-3 is a specialty grade developed by ARLANXEO for use in chewing gum production. Butyl rubber acts as a gum base, a key ingredient that determines the elasticity, durability, and chew texture of the finished product, ensuring consistent quality during storage and consumption.
Other non-tire applications
With its excellent resistance to heat, aging, and chemicals, X_Butyl® is also used in the production of roofing membranes, sealants, and adhesives, providing long-lasting flexibility and durability in demanding environments.
